| The Manetco Name |
Loosely interpreted, the name is a concatenation of three Latin root fragments translated from "money management company" as follows:
>manus - manage >moneta - money >companio - company
The concept for Manetco originated from the idea of starting a mutual fund. The fund was going to be called Manetus, so named from the Latin roots "moneta" and "manus". By NASD requirements, all mutual funds must have a separate management company to oversee the fund operations. Thus Manetco was born to operate the Manetus fund. Due to an abundance of NASD red tape, Manetus was never actually launched, but Manetco was used as a private trading company and the name just stayed. It is pronounced ma - net - co with an emphasis on the second syllable.
